Overview: Situated on a scenic headland overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in Tuscany, Punta Ala Golf Club offers an undulating coastal routing. The course is carved through a dense forest of maritime pines, holm oaks, and cork trees, creating tight, tree-lined corridors. Significant elevation changes, sloping fairways, and large greens that slope toward the sea make this a demanding test of precision and short-game touch.
History: Designed by Italian architect Giulio Cavalsani, the course opened in 1964 as one of the country's first modern coastal layouts. Cavalsani carefully integrated the holes into the natural Tuscan hillsides, requiring minimal modification to the original landscape. The club has hosted several regional championships and remains a popular destination for travelers visiting the Maremma coast.
Did You Know? The greens at Punta Ala feature a strong sea grain that makes putting highly deceptive, as the ball tends to break toward the Mediterranean regardless of how the slope appears to the eye.
