Overview: Pueblo De Oro Golf & Country Club sits in the uplands of Cagayan de Oro, where Robert Trent Jones II routed an 18-hole, par-72 course through rolling ground with views toward the Bukidnon mountains and Macajalar Bay. The current blue-tee card measures 6,350 yards. Natural ravines, five interconnected lakes and broad fairway movement give the course a balanced rhythm, with the landscape supplying both the visual scale and the strategic questions. It is the principal golf destination in the Pueblo township in northern Mindanao.
History: The course formed the centrepiece of the Pueblo de Oro master-planned development, with the Philippines Tourism profile recording March 1998 as its completion marker. The developer’s current account describes a course designed for all-weather play and built alongside a residential golf estate, while later tournament records show Pueblo Golf becoming a regular regional venue. Its history is therefore tied both to Cagayan de Oro’s growth and to the development of organised golf in Mindanao.
Did You Know? Pueblo Golf’s current course page identifies five interconnected lakes and turf imported from Georgia as part of the construction story. The combination is more than a maintenance detail: the lakes help define the routing’s water strategy, while the imported Tifton and Tif-dwarf surfaces were selected to support the course’s all-weather ambitions in a tropical climate.
