Overview: Prince’s Shore/Dunes is the third stored 18-hole combination at the Sandwich links. It joins the Shore nine at 3,419 yards with Dunes at 3,436 for a current combined yardage of approximately 6,855 and par 72. The course plays across firm coastal ground where the wind can change the safest line into a green and where a running approach is often more useful than a high, stopping shot. The directory name is retained exactly because the order of the nines is part of the routing identity.
History: Prince’s was established in 1906 and became an Open Championship venue in 1932. Post-war reconstruction and later design work have left the club with three named nines that can be paired in different ways. Martin Ebert is part of the current architectural record, but no single opening date for the Shore/Dunes combination is stated by the sources reviewed. The profile consequently records the current course structure and historic club milestones without inventing a date for the composite.
Did You Know? Changing the order of the same two nines produces a different day even though the holes are familiar. Shore/Dunes finishes on the Dunes loop, while the opposite combination closes on Shore. That matters at a links because the final nine can be played into a different wind and after the golfer has already adapted to the speed of the ground.
