Overview: Prairie View Golf Club occupies 206 acres along the White River between Carmel and Fishers. Robert Trent Jones Jr. used the natural prairie, mature oaks and sycamores, wetlands, lakes, and a meandering stream to create 18 holes that play to par 72 with a broad range of visual and strategic choices. From the back tees it measures 7,073 yards, but the four tee sets and generous fairway corridors let players choose a more suitable line through the property. Water and ninety white-sand bunkers are important parts of the design, while the open setting gives the course a distinctive central Indiana identity.
History: Prairie View opened in 1997 as Jones's first course in Indiana. The project placed a championship-scale daily-fee course on a former rural landscape and quickly became a prominent public layout in the state. The designer's portfolio records Prairie View as a 1997 project and notes its early recognition in state and national course rankings. Its location beside the White River remains central to the course's character, with natural wetlands and existing trees shaping the transition from hole to hole.
Did You Know? Prairie View is the only Robert Trent Jones Jr. course in Indiana. The site's combination of prairie, river-edge woodland, wetlands, and lakes allowed the designer to create a course that looks open from a distance but offers changing corridors and targets throughout the round.
