Overview: Prague City Golf Club in Zbraslav brings a links-inspired design to the Czech capital. The 18-hole course is built over a relatively open site with sculpted earth forms, red sand waste areas, large undulating greens and carefully framed landing zones. Its flat setting does not make it simple: the visual width of the fairways is balanced by sharp contours, strategic bunkering and approach shots that demand a clear decision.
History: The original Zbraslav course opened in 2009 and was developed by Jeremy Ford’s Ford Golf Design with PGA Tour winner Alex Čejka and shaper Mick McShane. After flooding in 2010, the drainage and playing surfaces were reconstructed. A later redesign added five holes and a new academy as the course operation moved toward Lipence, while retaining the original links character that made the venue distinctive in Prague.
Did You Know? The red sand areas are one of the course’s most recognisable visual features and are treated as waste areas rather than conventional bunkers. The design was deliberately inspired by Scottish links golf, but its broad modelling, city setting and modern tournament infrastructure give the course a distinctly Czech interpretation of that tradition.
