Overview: Pound Ridge Golf Club is a public Pete Dye course in Westchester County, routed across wooded and rocky terrain. The par-72 layout uses elevation, natural outcrops, wetlands and strategic bunkering to create a modern course in which the best line is often dictated by the land.
History: Pound Ridge opened in 2008 as a contemporary public-access course and remains one of Pete Dye's identifiable New York projects. Five sets of tees allow the same design to be approached at different scales without removing its principal hazards.
Did You Know? The course was built with a deliberate effort to work around existing rock and wetland features. The visible natural obstacles are therefore part of the original routing problem rather than scenery added after the holes were designed.
