Overview: Portstewart's Riverside Course is an 18-hole links-style layout along the banks of the River Bann in County Londonderry. It plays to par 68 at roughly 5,743 yards and offers a different scale from the club's larger Strand Course. The river corridor, open wind and firm ground create a round that rewards placement and controlled approaches rather than relying only on length.
History: The Riverside was opened in its current 18-hole form in 2003 and is associated with architect Des Giffin. It forms part of Portstewart Golf Club's wider collection of courses, whose main golfing history is rooted in the coastal links around the town. The Riverside's inland river setting gives the club a second landscape and a distinct routing identity.
Did You Know? Several Riverside holes run beside the River Bann, so the course can feel more like a river links than a conventional seaside layout. That contrast is why the course is kept as a separate route in the club's course information rather than being treated as part of the Strand.
