Overview: Portland Country Club sits on the Falmouth side of Casco Bay, where Donald Ross’s routing uses rolling ground, tree lines, and coastal views. The course places a premium on angle and recovery, with classic green contours set into a landscape that remains recognizably Maine.
History: Portland Country Club was established in 1895 and moved to its present property before the current clubhouse was completed in 1914. The club engaged Donald Ross in 1921 to design the present 18-hole course.
Did You Know? Portland Country Club’s heritage page records its designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, reflecting the club’s long-running attention to the natural setting.
