Overview: Poppy Hills Golf Course is a public woodland layout in Pebble Beach, routed through the Monterey Peninsula forest. Robert Trent Jones Jr. used tree lines, sandy ground and changing approach angles to make the course feel natural but technically demanding.
History: Poppy Hills opened in 1986 and underwent a major renovation in 2013-14. The work reworked bunkers, fairways and drainage while retaining the forest setting. The course also hosted the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am from 1991 through 2009.
Did You Know? Poppy Hills is operated through the Northern California Golf Association and sits at 3200 Lopez Road. Its forest setting produces different sightlines and recovery choices from the exposed coastal courses nearby.
