Overview: Plymouth Country Club is a private coastal course in Plymouth, Massachusetts, with fairways set on gently rising ground above Plymouth Bay. The property combines early local golf history with Donald Ross work, and its compact routing uses wind, exposed ground and precise approaches to create more challenge than the yardage suggests. The course has a distinctly New England scale.
History: The club was organized in April 1910 with an initial nine-hole course. Donald Ross designed a second nine that opened on July 21, 1921, then added another nine in 1929, creating the layered 27-hole history from which today's combinations developed.
Did You Know? The ocean-side holes from the original course were abandoned in 1913 after limited play. That change left the club with a more inland routing while the bay and coastal setting remained visible from the property.
