Overview: Playa Mujeres Golf Course is an 18-hole Greg Norman resort course on the Caribbean side of Cancún. The operator describes a layout built with respect for the surrounding fauna and environmentally sensitive areas, while the course’s daily trade winds make accuracy important. Dunes, mangroves, water and coastal vegetation frame the fairways, giving the round a distinctly open seaside character. It is a course where the weather is part of the design challenge, especially when the breeze changes the safe side of a green.
History: The course was created as the golf centre of the Playa Mujeres resort and residential destination north of central Cancún. Greg Norman’s design is still the defining architectural reference, and current material continues to present a single 18-hole championship routing with visitor tee-time booking. The reviewed sources do not establish one reliable opening year, so the profile keeps that field open rather than borrowing a date from a neighboring Playa Mujeres hotel or development phase.
Did You Know? The second hole is a par five that can be reached in two by longer hitters when the prevailing sea breeze helps. Its smallest green is protected by bunkers on both sides, making the aggressive option a genuine risk-reward decision rather than a simple invitation to attack. That hole captures Playa Mujeres well: natural wind, coastal space and carefully placed hazards combine to make a seemingly generous resort setting tactically demanding.
