Overview: The Panther is one of two private 18-hole courses at Plantation Golf & Country Club, 500 Rockley Boulevard in Venice. Current course records list par 72 and 6,427 yards from the blue tees. Designed to contrast with Bobcat, Panther uses sharper doglegs, fairway bunkers, water and strategic positioning to create a more target-oriented round.
History: Panther opened in 1987 and was designed by Ron Garl. Stephen Kay later renovated the course, including enlarging and reshaping the greens and updating the bunkering and turf. The club has hosted LPGA qualifying events since 1988 and continues to operate Panther as a private member course alongside Bobcat.
Did You Know? Plantation's course guide calls holes 12 through 15 the Panther's Claw. That stretch is singled out for the concentration of strategic decisions required by the Panther routing, helping explain why the shorter course still demands course knowledge.
