Overview: Pinehurst No. 8 is a Tom Fazio course created for Pinehurst's centennial. It follows the resort's Sandhills tradition with pine forest, sandy ground and broad strategic holes, while its resort presentation makes it a distinct routing from the more famous No. 2. The course is an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
History: The course opened in 1996 as part of Pinehurst's centennial celebration. Pinehurst later completed an agronomic renovation in 2022, but the resort says the work did not alter the architecture. That separates modern conditioning improvements from a redesign of Fazio's original routing.
Did You Know? Pinehurst No. 8 is recognized as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Its 2022 work was an agronomic renovation rather than a new architectural design, a useful distinction when comparing the course's current presentation with its 1996 opening.
