Overview: Pinehurst No. 6 is a Tom Fazio course in the resort's Sandhills collection. Pinehurst says George and Tom Fazio created the course, which combines pine forest, sandy ground and a broad resort routing. It is a par-72 course and a separate identity from the resort's No. 7, No. 8 and No. 9 courses.
History: The course opened in 1979 and was renovated in 2005. Pinehurst describes the original work as a George and Tom Fazio collaboration and notes that No. 6 became the fourth Pinehurst course to host a USGA championship.
Did You Know? No. 6's USGA championship history is easy to overlook because it sits beside more famous Pinehurst courses. Its 2005 renovation and Fazio family design connection are the two most useful anchors when distinguishing it from the resort's later layouts.
