Overview: Pinehurst No. 10 is Tom Doak's modern addition to Pinehurst Resort, built across the 900-acre Pinehurst Sandmines property. The course is shaped around broad sandy ground, native-looking waste areas and the rise and fall of a former mining landscape. Its par-70 routing gives the Pinehurst complex a noticeably different architectural voice.
History: No. 10 opened in 2024, becoming Pinehurst's first newly constructed 18-hole course in almost three decades. Pinehurst describes the site as a former mining operation, and the resort's account of the Sandmines notes a substantial sand deposit near the eighth hole. The course's history therefore begins with the land itself as much as with the resort.
Did You Know? Pinehurst No. 10 was built on a sand-mining site, not simply on unused resort acreage. The resort's own account describes a roughly 25-foot sand deposit near the eighth hole, an unusual piece of local geology that helps explain the property's name and visual character.
