Overview: The Jones Course at Pinehills is a public Rees Jones design in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Its 300-acre setting is shaped by glacial ridges, sandy ground, pines, and valleys, allowing the course to feel both expansive and closely tied to the natural landforms of coastal New England.
History: Rees Jones and co-designer Steve Weisser created the course in 2001 on a hilly, sandy site. It forms one half of Pinehills’ two-course daily-fee facility, alongside the Nicklaus Course, and was designed to make the existing ridges and valleys part of the strategy.
Did You Know? The Pinehills landscape was formed by the last great glacial ice sheet, which left behind the kettles and kames visible around Plymouth. The Jones Course uses those ancient landforms as its architectural foundation.
