Overview: The Golden Bear course at Reignwood Pine Valley is an 18-hole, par-72 private layout in Changping District northwest of Beijing. Jack Nicklaus designed the course in rolling ground below the Great Wall, with broad shaped fairways, deep bunkers and large contoured greens. The full-back course length is reported at 7,216 yards.
History: The Golden Bear course opened in 1998 as the centerpiece of the Reignwood Pine Valley property. The wider club later developed additional golf facilities, but the directory record refers specifically to the Golden Bear course. Pine Valley hosted the Reignwood LPGA Classic from 2013 through 2016 and has also hosted the Pine Valley Beijing Open.
Did You Know? The course’s mountain setting places Beijing golf in a very different landscape from the city’s flatter courses. The routing uses the foothills below the Great Wall as its backdrop, making the surrounding terrain part of the identity of the Golden Bear layout.
