Overview: Pine Meadow Golf Club occupies a public-access site in Mundelein, Illinois, with a layered design history that combines an original William Flynn layout and a later public-golf redevelopment. The parkland course is known for mature trees, wildlife, broad fairways and a full teaching facility.
History: William Flynn designed the original course in 1927 for the University of St. Mary of the Lake. The Jemsek family leased and rebuilt the property, and Pine Meadow opened in August 1985 after redesign work by Joe Lee, Rocky Roquemore and Joe Jemsek; Golf Digest recognized it as the best new public course in America in 1986.
Did You Know? Pine Meadow began as a course for seminarians before becoming a nationally recognized public facility. Its identity therefore spans a religious campus, a private-era design and a major public-golf transformation.
