Overview: Pine Lakes Country Club, known locally as The Granddaddy, is a public Robert White course in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Opened in 1927, the par-70 layout measures about 6,675 yards and occupies a historic inland coastal setting. Mature trees, traditional green sites, and the course’s long connection to the Grand Strand give it a character unlike newer resort layouts.
History: The course opened as part of the Ocean Forest Hotel property in 1927 and was designed by Robert White, a Scottish architect who became the first president of the PGA of America. The club has remained a central part of Myrtle Beach’s golf story as the surrounding destination expanded.
Did You Know? Pine Lakes is called The Granddaddy because it was Myrtle Beach’s first golf course. That nickname refers to the course’s place in the development of the Grand Strand golf market, not simply to its age among South Carolina clubs.
