Overview: Perched high atop the dramatic red sandstone cliffs overlooking the golden sands of the Algarve coastline near Albufeira, Portugal, Pine Cliffs Golf is a spectacularly beautiful nine-hole resort course. Designed by the esteemed British architect Martin Hawtree, the course runs through aromatic pine forests alongside the Atlantic Ocean, presenting narrow fairways, well-guarded greens, and some of the most breathtaking ocean views in Europe.
History: Opened in 1990 as part of the luxury Pine Cliffs Resort, this pristine layout has established itself as one of the most recognizable and photographed courses in the world. Hawtree carefully designed the routing to preserve the natural flora and contours of the cliff edges, ensuring that the course serves as both a delightful resort round and a world-class test of precision iron play.
Did You Know? The course's signature par-3 6th hole, famously known as the "Devil’s Parlour," requires players to hit a heroic 198-yard tee shot directly over a deep, yawning beach chasm on the cliff's edge to a small green, making it one of the most famous and thrilling single shots in the game of golf.
