Overview: Pilikula Golf Club brings a modern 18-hole option to Mangalore's Vamanjoor area, inside the 370-acre Pilikula Nisargadhama eco-educational and tourism hub. The official blue-tee scorecard lists par 72 and 6,728 yards. Pacific Coast Design, led on the project by Phil Ryan, is credited with the current course work. The club now presents the layout as a day-and-night experience, with floodlighting extending the playing window and a redesigned course that uses the setting's laterite ground, vegetation and open terrain as part of its identity.
History: Pilikula was conceived in 1998 and the golf club was independently registered on 11 October 2001. The course began as a nine-hole facility before evolving into an 18-hole layout. A Golf Industry Association project report records upgrade work beginning on 4 November 2024, with a planned completion date of 30 September 2025; the club's current website now describes the result as “Course 2.0.” That distinction matters: the current 18-hole experience is the product of a staged development and recent transformation, rather than a single historic opening date.
Did You Know? Night golf here is a substantial technical installation, not just a few illuminated greens. The club says the system uses 102 poles, 655 lights and roughly 16 kilometres of cabling. Even the name is local: “Pilikula” means “Tiger Pond” in Tulu, linking the golf course to the wider cultural and natural setting around Mangalore.
