Overview: The Silves routing covers 18 holes at par 70 on the inland side of the Algarve, below the Monchique mountains and close to historic Silves. The routing crosses gently undulating ground among carob, olive, citrus, and dry-climate trees, with lakes and doglegs supplying the strategic pressure. Its moderate length does not make it automatic golf. The course rewards a ball flight finding the correct side of the hole, particularly where the mountain backdrop makes the landing area appear wider than it is.
History: Pestana’s current golf material dates Silves to 2006, while Portuguese tourism records have also published 2007 and different architect attributions. Course-specific records identify José Matias with Fausto Nascimento and mention Peter Booth in the design history. Because the sources do not align perfectly, this profile keeps the target’s 2006 and primary José Matias fields but avoids presenting one disputed construction story as settled fact.
Did You Know? The setting below the Monchique range gives Silves a distinctive inland backdrop, but the holes are grounded in the orchard landscape around the town. Carob, olive, and citrus trees influence the line of play and give the course agricultural texture. The strongest contrast is between the dry hills beyond the property and the greener, planted corridors inside the routing.
