Overview: Perdido Bay Country Club, now operated as Perdido Bay Golf Club, is an 18-hole public course at 1 Doug Ford Drive in Pensacola. Current course records list par 72 and 7,023 yards from the back tees. The Gulf Coast routing is generally flat but uses narrow fairways, water, bunkers and large undulating greens to create its challenge.
History: The course opened in 1963 and was originally designed by Bill Amick, with later design work by Bill Bergin. It became a ten-year home of the PGA Tour's Pensacola Open from 1978 through 1987, giving the property a place in the competitive history of the Florida Panhandle. The current operator continues to present the course as a public championship layout with tee-time access for visitors.
Did You Know? Perdido Bay's official course page names Jack Nicklaus, Payne Stewart, Tom Kite and Curtis Strange among the golfers associated with its professional history. The course also maintains a public practice facility with a driving range, putting green, chipping green and practice bunkers.
