Overview: Pensacola Country Club is a private 18-hole course at 1500 Bayshore Drive on Pensacola Bay. The current course record lists par 72 and 6,815 yards, while the club describes a bayfront setting with tree-lined fairways, bunkers and elevated greens. The current course is a modern reconstruction of an unusually old Florida golf property.
History: The club began in 1902, and its first nine holes were laid out around 1903 before the Bayshore property was deeded to the club in 1905. The back nine was added in the mid-1920s, completing the 18-hole course. After Hurricane Ivan damaged the property in 2004, former U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate led a complete redesign, and the course reopened for members in 2006.
Did You Know? Pensacola Country Club's current identity combines an early golf history with a recent design chapter. Golf Digest credits the course's original design to Donald J. Ross and the reconstruction to Jerry Pate, so the name describes a layered course history rather than a single untouched layout.
