Overview: The Legend Course at Penati Golf Resort is an 18-hole Nicklaus Design layout in the pine country around Senica, Slovakia. It was built on a large, sandy site and uses wide undulating fairways, waste areas, steep bunkers and varied tee positions to offer different levels of challenge. The absence of out-of-bounds areas gives the course a spacious feel, but that extra room does not remove the need for strategy. Players still have to decide how much of the broad landscape to use before approaching the diverse green complexes.
History: Penati Legend opened in 2012 as the first Nicklaus Design course in Slovakia and the first of two 18-hole layouts planned for the resort. Nicklaus Design describes the course as a championship-scale project that can accommodate golfers of different abilities and large tournament galleries. The 95-hectare development also includes lakes and outdoor recreation, placing the course within a wider resort landscape rather than treating it as an isolated golf property.
Did You Know? The 15th hole measures 712 metres from its longest setup and has eleven teeing options. The operator says it can be played as a par five or par six, which explains why par references can differ between scorecards and directory records. The round then closes with a narrow 18th leading to an island green in front of the clubhouse terrace, giving the finish a very different character from the open fairways earlier in the day.
