Overview: Penang Golf Resort is an operating golf facility at Kepala Batas on the mainland side of Penang. Current tourism information describes the property as an 18-hole, par-72 course, while the resort's development history records a former 36-hole East and West complex that was reconfigured into one championship 18. The course sits within the Bertam township landscape, with tree-lined fairways, landscaped planting and three tee sets intended to accommodate different playing levels. A single current yardage is not stored here because the published East and West totals belong to the earlier configuration and cannot safely be assigned to today's routing.
History: The original Penang Golf Resort course was designed by Graham Marsh. After the former 36-hole layout was reworked, Nigel B. Douglas was contracted for the upgrading design, and the redevelopment was completed in October 2019. That chronology explains why older references describe East and West courses while current descriptions present one 18-hole championship course. The resort remains part of the Bertam development in Seberang Perai Utara, rather than being conflated with Penang Golf Club on the island.
Did You Know? Penang Golf Resort's most useful distinction is its mainland setting. It offers a different base for a Penang golf itinerary from the island's Bukit Jambul course, while still being connected to the wider George Town and Seberang Perai destination. The three-tee concept and landscaped fairways were retained in the redevelopment description, so the course is presented as an accessible resort-and-township round rather than as two separate 18-hole routings.
