Overview: Pelican Sound's River/Sound combination is an 18-hole private routing at 4561 Pelican Sound Boulevard in Estero. The black tees measure 6,892 yards and the scorecard gives the route a par of 72. The River and Sound nines use the club's rolling Florida setting, with wetland and woodland corridors, strategic doglegs and greens that range from medium to large with some pronounced tiers.
History: Mike Hill and Chip Powell designed Pelican Sound's 27-hole complex, which opened in 1998. A temporary clubhouse preceded the River Club restaurant in 1999, the main clubhouse opened at the end of that year, and member management began in 2003. River/Sound is one of the official 18-hole pairings produced by the facility's daily rotation of its three nines.
Did You Know? River/Sound is the longest black-tee combination on the current Pelican Sound scorecard at 6,892 yards, just five yards longer than Lakes/Sound. Because the nines rotate daily, the course can offer that distance while presenting a different sequence and scorecard on another day.
