Overview: Pelican Sound's Lakes/Sound combination is an 18-hole private routing at 4561 Pelican Sound Boulevard in Estero. It plays to par 72 and 6,887 yards from the black tees on the club's current scorecard. The Lakes and Sound nines move through preserved wetlands and woodlands, with rolling terrain, doglegs and medium to large greens that vary from gently undulating to multi-tiered.
History: The Pelican Sound golf complex was designed by Senior PGA Tour player Mike Hill and architect Chip Powell and opened in 1998. The club's River Club restaurant opened in 1999, the main clubhouse followed later that year, and members assumed management in 2003. Lakes/Sound is one of the official pairings created by the club's three-nine rotation system.
Did You Know? The Lakes/Sound route is the longest of the three black-tee combinations on the current Pelican Sound scorecard at 6,887 yards. The club still changes the pairing daily, allowing the same three nines to produce different 18-hole tests without adding another course footprint.
