Overview: Pelican Sound's Lakes/River combination is an 18-hole private routing at 4561 Pelican Sound Boulevard in Estero. The current club scorecard lists it at par 72 and 6,672 yards from the black tees. It joins two of the club's three nines through wetlands, woodlands, rolling ground and doglegs, with medium to large greens that include some two- and three-tiered surfaces.
History: Mike Hill and Chip Powell created Pelican Sound's 27-hole golf complex, which opened in 1998. The community added a temporary clubhouse before the River Club restaurant opened in 1999, followed by the main clubhouse at the end of that year. Members took over management in 2003, and the three-nine format has remained the foundation of the club's rotating 18-hole program.
Did You Know? Lakes/River is not a permanently fixed 18-hole course in the conventional sense. Pelican Sound rotates its three nines daily, so Lakes/River is one of several official combinations and may be paired differently on another day while remaining the same directory identity.
