Overview: Pelican's Nest Hurricane is an 18-hole private course at 4450 Pelican's Nest Drive in Bonita Springs. The official club page lists it at par 72 and 6,743 yards from the tips, with seven tee boxes and a more forgiving profile than Gator. The routing uses water, wetlands, vegetation and bunkers as recurring hazards, beginning with a downhill 183-yard par 3 and finishing with a par-5 that asks for a precise second shot over water if a player wants to reach the green.
History: Pelican's Nest began with a Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole public course in 1985, then added nine holes in 1988 and nine more in 1993. Those expansions ultimately produced the distinct Gator and Hurricane courses. Hurricane was renovated under Jan Bel Jan's direction in 2015, before Bel Jan led the later Gator renovation that reopened in 2016.
Did You Know? The club's scoring-tee program is designed as a shorter course within the course, giving golfers with clubhead speeds around 55 to 65 miles per hour a more realistic route to greens in regulation. Hurricane's official page also records a 2024 regrassing with Bimini Bermuda.
