Overview: Pelican's Nest Gator is an 18-hole private course at 4450 Pelican's Nest Drive in Bonita Springs. The club lists the current layout at par 73 and 6,930 yards from the tips. Its five par 5s make distance a central part of the design, while the official hole guide identifies the 17th as the only hole requiring a forced carry over water from the tee.
History: The first 18-hole public course at Pelican's Nest, designed by Tom Fazio, opened in 1985. The property expanded with nine holes in 1988 and another nine in 1993, eventually becoming the current Gator and Hurricane 18-hole courses. Jan Bel Jan led the Gator renovation that reopened it for limited play in 2016, including new greens and bunkers, fairway regrassing, hole changes and new scoring tees.
Did You Know? Gator's current seven-tee system includes scoring tees designed to make the course more accessible to golfers with moderate clubhead speed. The club introduced these shorter options in 2015, and the official course page describes Gator as the longer of The Nest's two courses.
