Overview: Pelican Preserve’s Egret/Heron combination is an 18-hole private routing at 9802 Pelican Preserve Boulevard in Fort Myers. The current route record lists par 72 and 6,832 yards from the black tees. It uses two of the club’s three Chip Powell nines, with water, sand and grass hollows set among the preserve landscape of the 1,100-acre community.
History: Pelican Preserve opened its 27 holes in 2002 under the design direction of Lewis C. “Chip” Powell. Egret, Heron and Ibis can be combined into three different 18-hole courses, and Egret/Heron is one of the published current routings. The club remains private, with golf organized around members, residents and their guests rather than daily-fee visitor play.
Did You Know? Egret/Heron is the shortest of the three black-tee combinations in the available scorecard records at 6,832 yards, but it still carries par 72. The nine-hole pairing makes the route an identifiable course in its own right while preserving the flexibility of Pelican Preserve’s 27-hole design.
