Overview: Located on the flat, sun-drenched shores of Lake Maggiore, Golf Club Patriziale Ascona is one of Switzerland's most beautiful and historic parkland courses. The layout, originally planned by Harry Colt and C.H. Alison, features lush, tree-lined fairways framed by towering poplars, chestnuts, and ancient oaks, all set against a stunning backdrop of the Swiss Alps. The small, well-guarded greens and strategic bunkers demand precise iron play and careful course management to navigate the classic lakeside corridors.
History: Founded in 1928 as a nine-hole course, the club expanded to a full 18-hole championship layout in 1957 under the direction of Charles Kenneth Cotton, with subsequent updates by Donald Harradine. The course has held many major international tournaments and has long been celebrated for its immaculate conditioning and elegant, Mediterranean-alpine microclimate.
Did You Know? The course is situated on a peninsula formed by the delta of the Maggia River, which provides a rich, sandy alluvial soil that ensures excellent turf quality and a flat, exceptionally walkable playing surface.
