Overview: Pasadena Yacht & Country Club is a private 18-hole course at 6300 Pasadena Point Boulevard in Gulfport, on the Boca Ciega Bay side of the St. Petersburg area. The black tees are listed at 6,588 yards and par 72. The course occupies nearly 300 acres of subtropical grounds, where the golf property shares its setting with the club’s marina and waterfront community.
History: Pasadena Yacht & Country Club was established in 1924, when Walter Hagen and Jack Taylor formed Pasadena on the Gulf in place of the former Bear Creek course. The club’s official history identifies Hagen as its first professional and records a long tournament and celebrity tradition. The golf course was originally designed in the 1920s by Wayne Stiles and renovated in the 1980s by Arnold Palmer; later ownership, beginning in 2016, undertook further property upgrades.
Did You Know? Walter Hagen was not only an early club professional at Pasadena, he was also involved in the club’s formative era. The official history notes that part of the celebrated Hagen and Bobby Jones “Match of the century” was played at Pasadena, linking this Gulfport course to an important moment in early American golf.
