Overview: Park Golf Club Ostrava occupies the historic Šilheřovice castle park, where the fairways pass beneath rare mature trees and around the setting of the Rothschild château. It is a classic parkland course with gently rolling ground, narrow corridors and a premium on accuracy and touch. The scale of the trees and the heritage landscape make the round feel very different from the newer resort courses that dominate much of Czech golf.
History: The club’s founder and project initiator was Jan Cieslar, who had spent years looking for a suitable site in the Ostrava region. Construction began in the castle park in 1968, and the first Ostrava tournament was held there in autumn 1970. The course became one of the country’s early full 18-hole facilities and developed a lasting connection with competitive Czech golf while preserving its historic park setting.
Did You Know? Park Golf Club Ostrava is described by the municipality of Šilheřovice as the third-oldest golf club in Czechia and the oldest 18-hole course in Moravia. Its signature landscape includes a remarkable collection of old trees brought to the estate from different parts of the world, creating a botanical backdrop as distinctive as the golf itself.
