Overview: Parador Málaga Golf is the historic 18-hole Old Course beside the Mediterranean near Málaga airport. Tom Simpson's design occupies a flat, open coastal site where broad fairways meet dunes, pines, eucalyptus and beachside wind. The landscape is more open than a tree-lined parkland course, and the sea becomes a direct influence on the holes closest to the shore. The facility is now presented as a 27-hole complex, but this profile follows the ranked Old Course identity. Its appeal lies in the combination of age, simple strategic lines and the unusual feeling of playing a historic course directly beside the beach.
History: The golf facility was founded in 1925. Land was surveyed in 1926, acquired in 1928 and developed through the late 1920s, with a foundation-stone ceremony in 1929. The course suffered severe damage during the Civil War, after which Tom Simpson of Simpson and Company reconstructed and redesigned the layout. That sequence explains why the present course carries both a 1920s origin and a later Simpson imprint. It has since hosted events including the Turespaña Masters, the Open de España and other national and international competitions.
Did You Know? Parador Málaga Golf combines an 18-hole historic course with a separate nine-hole links course, making the wider facility a 27-hole complex. The two-hole stretch nearest the sea, together with the dunes and coastal trees, gives the property a character that is unusually close to a true seaside layout for a course so near an airport and a major city.
