Overview: Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas, is a historic private parkland masterpiece designed by the notable Golden Age architect A.W. Tillinghast. Winding through mature oak trees and rolling parkland turf, this historic championship course features Tillinghast's signature undulating greens, intricate bunkers, and narrow, tree-lined fairways. The layout demands both power off the tee and extreme precision on approach shots, offering members a premier and highly strategic test of golf.
History: A.W. Tillinghast designed the course to be one of the premier tournament venues in the South, and it has played a massive role in professional golf history, hosting the PGA Tour's Texas Open 24 times between 1961 and 1994, as well as the first-ever Tour Championship in 1989. Over the decades, the course has undergone meticulous restorations to preserve Tillinghast's classic design principles, including major renovations by Tripp Davis in 2018.
Did You Know? Oak Hills has witnessed some of the most signature moments in professional golf, including Arnold Palmer's notable three consecutive Texas Open victories here from 1961 to 1963. The club's signature par-3 18th hole is one of the most known finishing holes in the state, requiring a precise tee shot over a deep valley to a highly contoured, elevated green.
