Overview: Paradis Hotel Golf Club lays out 18 holes at par 72 on the Le Morne Peninsula in south-west Mauritius, where the fairways run between the lagoon and the mountain of Le Morne Brabant. David Dutton created the original layout and Tony Johnstone later contributed enhancements, with five water passages and a closing run that returns along the coast. The longest published distance is 5,924 metres, approximately 6,478 yards. Tropical planting, shoreline views and the volcanic mountain backdrop give the course a setting that is as distinctive as its routing.
History: Golf at Le Morne began with a nine-hole layout connected to the original hotel property, and the course was converted to 18 holes in 1992. David Dutton is credited with the design, while professional golfer Tony Johnstone helped shape later bunkers and fairway details. The completed course became part of the Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort and its wider partnership with neighbouring Dinarobin, creating a long-running south-west Mauritius golf destination without losing the course's separate identity.
Did You Know? The final five holes run close to the coast, so the lagoon and mountain can appear together during the closing stretch. The course also uses Seashore Paspalum on its fairways and greens, a grass selected for its suitability to the Mauritian climate. The clubhouse is described as distinctly British in character, an intentional contrast with the tropical landscape beyond it.
