Overview: Pannonia Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 championship layout in the Máriavölgy valley west of Budapest. Hans-Georg Erhardt and Doug Carrick routed the course through rolling ground with broad fairways, large undulating greens, bunkers and lakes on eight holes. The route reaches about 7,000 yards from the longest markers and changes character between open valley views and more enclosed tree-lined sections. The green complexes, rather than raw length alone, provide much of the course's strategic demand.
History: Pannonia opened in 1996 on land associated with the Habsburg estate and quickly became one of Hungary's principal tournament venues. The historic clubhouse was adapted from an earlier estate building, helping the facility connect its modern championship role with the agricultural and architectural character of the site. Since opening, the club has staged national and international events, including competitions sanctioned by the European Golf Association and the Hungarian Golf Federation.
Did You Know? The tree-lined approach to the clubhouse is part of the Pannonia experience before the round begins. On the course, eight holes bring lakes into play and several doglegs change the preferred angle into the green. Six tee positions allow the same valley routing to be scaled for different playing abilities, while the large greens can make a conservative approach look very different from an aggressive one.
