Overview: South/West is an 18-hole public combination at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear. Arthur Hills designed the South nine, while Mike Angus shaped the West nine, the newer water-rich part of the 27-hole property. The current scorecard lists this route at par 71 and 6,885 yards from the gold tees. South provides a classic desert framework of fairways and bunkers, then West changes the visual rhythm with more water and a stronger oasis effect. The result is a varied West Valley round that feels different from the North/South championship pairing.
History: Palm Valley’s golf course was operating by November 1993 and has remained part of Goodyear’s growth. The original North and South nines established the club’s identity, while the West addition created the third possible 18-hole experience. Arcis Golf continues to present the three combinations as the facility’s main strength, with South/West showing how the older Hills routing and the newer Angus design can complement one another in a single round.
Did You Know? South/West is the shortest of Palm Valley’s three listed gold-tee combinations. Its par remains 71, but the West nine makes the route feel more water-oriented than its yardage suggests.
