Overview: Palm Resort's Melati Course is the longest of the Senai resort's three separate 18-hole routings, playing to par 72 and 7,205 yards from the black tees. Hiromasa Inagawa's design is presented by the club as links-style, with open fairways, Tifdwarf greens, Serangoon fairways, elevated tees and six water hazards. Thirty-five bunkers add definition around the landing areas and greens. Its airport-side location, hotel and adjoining Allamanda and Cempaka courses make Melati a natural choice for a multi-round Johor or Singapore golf trip.
History: Melati was developed as part of Palm Resort Golf and Country Club, which opened its 54-hole golf estate in the 1990s and is commonly dated to 1994 in current course references. All three routings were designed by Japanese architect Hiromasa Inagawa, but each was given a different playing identity. Melati became the longest and more open of the trio, while Cempaka serves as the tournament-style course and Allamanda as the resort course. The distinction is retained here because the directory record refers to Melati specifically.
Did You Know? The second hole is defended by the country's largest continuous stretch of sand according to the current course guide, making a short par three visually larger than its card distance suggests. The fifteenth is a 684-yard par five from the black tees, and the sixteenth finishes at an island green surrounded by water. Those holes explain Melati's reputation for length, but the course also has ten elevated tees that add character to an otherwise open, links-style presentation.
