Overview: Palm Beach Polo & Country Club’s Cypress Course is an 18-hole private course at 11199 Polo Club Road in Wellington. Pete Dye and P.B. Dye designed the layout around the Big Blue forest preserve, and the current tournament tees measure 7,116 yards at par 72. The course weaves between residential neighborhoods, polo fields and the preserve in Wellington’s equestrian landscape.
History: The Cypress Course was built in 1989 and was initially created for the Chrysler Team Championship on the PGA Tour. Palm Beach Polo’s official history places the club’s beginnings in Wellington in 1978, when William T. Ylvisaker established the area’s first polo fields. The private club and residential community remain closely linked to Wellington’s equestrian identity.
Did You Know? Cypress was built around the Big Blue forest preserve, so Pete Dye and P.B. Dye’s course is designed as much around a protected natural edge as around the housing and polo development. The same layout combines a 7,116-yard tournament card with a preserve-centered setting.
