Overview: Near Royal Oaks and Watsonville, Pajaro Valley welcomes public play across 18 holes at the heart of Monterey Bay. Current records list par 72 and about 6,417 yards, while the club's history identifies Peter Hay's work on the front nine and Robert Muir Graves' later back nine. Open space, wildlife and rolling ground are central to the present course description.
History: The site was redeveloped as a golf course in 1926, with Peter Hay's knowledge guiding the original front nine. The back nine was developed decades later by Robert Muir Graves, and the course has remained substantially recognizable through later ownership changes. The current operator is celebrating the club's centennial and has published a longer-term preservation and improvement plan.
Did You Know? Before golf, the site was associated with Hudson Landing, a port used to move Pajaro Valley crops by steamboat. A surviving oak tree reportedly helped boats navigate toward the landing, adding a local agricultural and transport layer to the golf course's history.
