Overview: Pacific Dunes Golf Course is a championship woodland layout located in Medowie, in the Port Stephens region of New South Wales. Designed by James Wilcher and opened in 2005, the course is routed through native Angophora trees, wetlands, and natural sand dunes. The layout features two distinct nines: a tight, tree-lined front nine and a more open, water-dominated back nine.
History: Opened in 2005, Pacific Dunes was designed by former Greg Norman design associate James Wilcher to showcase the natural landscape of the Hunter region. The project preserved pockets of native forest and wetlands, which serve as natural hazards. The course has consistently been recognized for its design quality and environmental integration.
Did You Know? The course's signature seventeenth hole is a challenging par-three requiring a precise carry over a large wetland area to a wide but shallow green guarded by deep bunkering.
