Overview: Pärnu Bay Golf Links, located on the picturesque sandy shores of the Baltic Sea in Tahkuranna, Estonia, is a stunning, authentic links course designed by Finnish architect Lassi Pekka Tilander. Carved out of a dense pine forest on pure sand, the course features sweeping sand waste areas, wide fairways lined with native fescue grasses, and dramatic, multi-tiered greens that run fast and firm. The layout offers an incredible oceanfront experience, with the coastal winds and natural terrain requiring traditional links tactics and creative shot-making.
History: Opened in 2015, Pärnu Bay Golf Links represents a landmark development for Baltic golf, established as the first true links-style course in the region. Tilander worked closely with shaper Mick McShane, famous for his work at Kingsbarns and St Andrews Castle Course, to shape the massive dunes and waste bunkers directly from the native seaside sand, creating a course that looks and plays like a classic Scottish links.
Did You Know? The architecturally striking clubhouse sits perched on a high ridge overlooking the 18th green and the Baltic Sea, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass and a cantilevered design that has won numerous international architectural awards. The course’s signature par-3 14th hole plays directly along the sandy beach, requiring a precise tee shot over a vast waste bunker to a green framed by the sea.
