Overview: Located along the Oulujoki River in Oulu, Finland, the Sanki Course at Oulun Golfkerho is an 18-hole parkland course designed by Ron Fream and David Dale. The layout features rolling fairways that wind through mature forests of pine and birch, leading to large green complexes. Wylihof-like, the course demands strategic positioning off the tee and accurate approach shots to reach the well-defended putting surfaces.
History: Established in 1965 and expanded to its full 18-hole championship Sanki layout in 1992 under Fream's direction, the course was built on a sandy, forested parcel that ensures exceptional natural drainage. The routing was carefully planned to utilize the natural river contours, creating a highly playable yet strategic championship layout.
Did You Know? Located at a high latitude near the Arctic Circle, during the peak of summer the course enjoys 24-hour daylight. This solar exposure allows golfers to play a full round in the middle of the night under the midnight sun.
