Overview: Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie is a private 18-hole course with sweeping fairways, golden fescue, and undulating greens. The original Charlie Maddox design was substantially rebuilt and refined by Ron Prichard, giving the modern course a stronger architectural identity while retaining its 1969 history. At roughly 7,400 yards and par 72, it can stretch into a demanding championship test, yet the broad corridors and varied tee positions keep the course useful for different levels of play. Its visual character comes from open movement rather than dense woodland.
History: Olympic Hills was founded in 1969 with Charlie Maddox as the original architect. Nearly five decades later, the club undertook a comprehensive renovation led by Ron Prichard and project manager Tom Mead from 2013 through 2015. The course reopened in August 2015 with rebuilt greens, updated bunkering, and improved playing surfaces. That work is central to understanding why the current course is both a Maddox original and a Prichard-led modern interpretation.
Did You Know? The club's name and setting carry a playful double reference. Olympic Hills alludes to Mount Olympus, while Eden Prairie's name draws on biblical imagery. The result is a course identity built around two different ideas of an ideal landscape, one classical and one pastoral.
