Overview: The Overlook and Woods nines are an 18-hole combination within Old Westbury Golf and Country Club’s private 27-hole facility on Long Island. The course uses wooded ground, open lawn, and broad estate views to create a classic parkland setting. From the championship tees the combination extends to about 7,010 yards.
History: The former William C. Whitney estate became Old Westbury’s first private country club in 1961. Club history credits Will Mitchell with transforming the grounds into three nine-hole courses. The current course has since undergone significant infrastructure and playing-surface work, including a 2026 renovation led by Brian Silva.
Did You Know? A 187-foot tower on the property served as a World War II aircraft lookout and remains visible from the course. It is a distinctive piece of the estate’s history, standing apart from the golf architecture but still present in the playing landscape.
