Overview: Old Sandwich Golf Club occupies pine hills and sandy ground in eastern Massachusetts, inland from Cape Cod but exposed to Atlantic weather. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw used natural contours to build a heathland routing with wide entrances, short par fours and greens that reward running approaches.
History: The course was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and opened in 2004. Its architecture draws on older strategic ideas, using the site's dunes, fescue and forest edges instead of extensive reshaping.
Did You Know? Old Sandwich is not directly on the coast, yet Atlantic breezes reach the property and influence its playing character. The short par-four fifth is described as a Cape-style hole, while the seventh places its green in a broad field of sand.
