Old Barnwell

Overview: Old Barnwell is a private heathland course on sandy, rolling ground near Aiken, South Carolina. Brian Schneider and Blake Conant shaped a wide, natural-feeling layout through longleaf and loblolly pines, with the terrain and sandy soil doing much of the visual work. The official course information lists eighteen holes, par 73 and 7,095 yards.

History: The course opened in 2023 on a 575-acre property. Its design language draws on English heathland references including Woodhall Spa and Swinley Forest, but the course remains rooted in the pines and sand of the South Carolina site.

Did You Know? Old Barnwell is planned as the first of three courses on the property. The club also has a fifteen-hole Kids’ Course, while the Gil Hanse-designed third course is planned for a later phase.
